PUPILS at a Valleys school are learning banking skills as a part of a new project.
Markham Primary School, with the help of Islwyn Community Credit Union, has set up a saving club for pupils where youngsters can bring in money, which is collected by a group of six pupils who help run the course.
The cash is then taken to the bank and paid into their respective bank accounts.
Seven children aged eight to ten trained as collectors and cashiers for the club and will now run their own weekly collection point.
Headteacher Gill Crandon said: "With the state of the economy today, they need to be learning to save - they've taken to it really well, I'm very pleased with it."
