THE FINAL phase of the Tommy Cooper Walk of Fame will be officially opened by the leader of Caerphilly borough council Lindsay Whittle, next Thursday.
The event will take place on the Twyn, Caerphily, when Cllr Whittle will unveil the final phase at 12pm on Thursday February 18.
Since its inauguration on April 1 2005, 196 pavers have been laid inscribed with their sponsors' messages, raising some £5,000 towards the Tommy Cooper Statue Fund.
The chairman of the Tommy Cooper Society, Tudor Jones said: "We are very grateful to all our supporters and to the Caerphilly County Borough Council for their encouragement."
Mr Jones also announced that he will be handing over the chairmanship to Chris Bleach, a long time and active member of the society.
And continued by saying: "Having achieved our first objective of publicising Caerphilly as Tommy's birthplace through the unveiling of his statue by our patron Sir Anthony Hopkins.
"It is time for a new leader to spearhead our drive to establish a theatre in Caerphilly and organise new events such as a Tommy Cooper 'feztival'."
