Caerphilly borough council award for bus service

CAERPHILLY borough council were given an award for increasing their Sunday service bus users by 20 percent.
The Welsh branch of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT Cymru) given the Excellence in Passenger Transport Provision award.
This is the second consecutive year the council has been successful as the Integrated Transport Unit was presented with an award for Innovation in Bus Provision for the Connect2 flexible transport project.
Caerphilly's Transport Team was awarded for their submission, which outlined the revision to Sunday bus services in the borough. The council subsidises this network of buses, and have altered the timetables to reflect resident's Sunday shopping and leisure activities. The services have also been designed to connect with train and other bus services where possible, for a simplified Sunday travel service.
The modification of the services were supported by innovative publicity and marketing before and after the changes came into effect. This has resulted in an impressive 20% growth in patronage compared with the previous Sunday network
