Caerphilly monitor group will include tenants

A JOINT tenant and councillor group will be set up to monitor the progress of the £20m Caerphilly council investment in the authority’s housing stock for this year.

Since tenants voted to keep the council as their landlord, they have continued to work with the authority, which has agreed to establish the Housing Task Group.

The group will oversee the progress of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard investment programme and the other promises that the council made.

The group will meet every six weeks to receive reports on a range of housing issues and will have a key monitoring role. There are places on the group for seven tenants from across the borough.

Information sessions are being held to explain more about the purpose of the group and matters such as the selection process.

Residents can find out more from the Tenant and Community Involvement Team on 01495 235025 / 235011 / 235387. Or attend one of the following events: Wednesday at Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly, 10am-1pm; Thursday at Risca Library, Risca 4pm-7pm; Friday at White Rose Information Centre, NewTredegar 10am-noon; August 6, at Pontllanfraith House, Blackwood 4pm-7pm, and; August 7, at Penallta House, Ystrad Mynach, 4.30pm-7pm.

The ballot was not flawed...the right result was correct..not many tenants wanted to be owned by Castle Mynydd...Council may have faults but better the devil you know than the devil you don't known..best decision ever to remain under Council ...

Of course it was! Tenants, who bothered to vote, originally voted for Transfer then the Council moved the goalposts. Tenants may regret it - look at Wrexham.
