THOUSANDS of people are expected to see some of the very best in agriculture at this year’s Bedwellty Show.

The historic show at the Showfield in Cefn Fforest promises everything from falconry and ferret racing to a dog showand a tug-of-war.

Bedwellty Show, which is now run independently from Caerphilly council, runs from 9am till 5pm on Saturday.

Activities also include a circus skills workshop, vintage tractors and show ponies.

There will even be an appearance from some of the Newport Gwent Dragons players.

Last year’s event attracted around 1,500 people, and the show has now been running for more than 130 years.

Bedwellty Show was set up in 1873 and has been staged each year apart from during the two world wars and the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak.

Tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for children under 16, and children under three go free.
