Caerphilly Welsh school project to get £1.75m funding

A SCHEME to build a new Welsh Medium secondary school in Caerphilly is to receive £1.75million funding.

The cash for St Ilan School is part of a 175m package announced by Minister for Finance, Jane Hutt AM.

The plan is one of a number of school building projects to secure funding as part of the Wales budget announced on Tuesday.

Welcoming the additional investment, Minister for Education and Skills, Leighton Andrews said: "This 15 million boost underlines our commitment to the 21st Century Schools Programme.

"We will now work with local authorities to ensure that construction work on these projects can begin as quickly as possible."
