A Pontypool-based solicitor has been appointed to the Law Society’s Children Panel as a specialist in dealing with the areas of law relating to children.

Lindsay Tasker, from Watkins & Gunn Solicitors, originally from Skegness, has been selected to join the prestigious panel following a rigorous screening process.

The accreditation means that Lindsay is now a certified Children’s Representative and can act for children through court appointed guardians in all care proceedings and complex family law cases.

In order to secure the accreditation, Lindsay had to undergo a lengthy and rigorous application process. This involved attending a three day course and submitting a comprehensive application detailing her expertise and experience in family law. She also attended an independent assessment and interview process in London with a solicitor from the panel and a children’s guardian.

Lindsay joins Kate Roberts, an associate solicitor at Watkins & Gunn, who is also on the panel.

Lindsay said: “Family law has always been my passion and I have built up a considerable amount of experience in complex cases over the years. All of my hard work now means that I can represent children and ensure their voice is heard as, ultimately, it’s all about the children and guaranteeing they achieve the best possible outcome.”

Clive Thomas, managing partner at Watkins & Gunn, said: “We are extremely proud of Lindsay and all of her achievements. She is a very talented lawyer, always willing to provide a service for her clients that goes above and beyond. As a firm, we are delighted that we now have two solicitors with this prestigious accreditation, which demonstrates the strength, experience and expertise that our team possess."
