A number of commercial properties from around Gwent will be going under the hammer at an auction on Thursday.

The properties include the former Peacocks store on Chepstow Road in Newport and a substantial modern office block in Abergavenny.

A rarely-available, a grade II listed Alfred Waterhouse-designed terraced office building at 109 St Mary Street in the heart of Cardiff adjacent to Howells department store, is one of the star lots in the catalogue for the auction, being held by Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions on Thursday.

The historic building, on four floors with ancillary space and staff accommodation in the basement, is being sold with vacant possession and has a guide price of £300,000.

Keri Harding-Jones said: “The building retains an impressive red brick and terracotta façade and some period internal features which include lantern roof light, a fantastic timber balustrade and wrought iron staircase. This type of building is rarely available on the open market.”

The former Peacocks store at 148-150 Chepstow Road, Newport, is a more modern building. This substantial two-storey retail unit is situated on one of the main arterial routes into the city of Newport. The property, which has a guide price of £140,000, provides a ground floor retail area of some 3,348 sq ft with storage and ancillary space above.

Newbridge House, Tudor Street, Abergavenny, is a substantial detached, purpose-built, modern-style office property with car parking sited on the edge of the busy town centre.

The three-storey property, which is being sold with a guide price of £390,000, has a combined internal area of 9,747 sq ft.

The ground floor is currently let to the Job Centre with the self-contained upper floor areas vacant. The entire building is let to Telereal Trillium at an annual rental of £56,756.70 on a lease which expires in March 2018.

Fairoak House, 15-17 Church Road, Newport, consists of series of buildings prominently situated on the corner of Church Road and Bishop Street.

The property is fully let to a range of occupiers currently producing a total annual income of £74,100 and has a guide price of £450,000 at auction.
