Newport-based Certus TG has been appointed by software developers CareWorks, to provide data storage and infrastructure support for its new all-Wales CareDirector Community Care Information Solution.

CareDirector CCIS is the all-Wales project to introduce an integrated service user information system across health and social care community services in Wales.

Backed by Welsh Government funding of £6.7m announced in May by health minister, Professor Mark Drakeford, the new, integrated system is being built on the tried-and-tested CareDirector platform developed by Irish software company, CareWorks.

The new CareDirector CCIS system will be rolled out throughout Wales over the coming three years across the 29 NHS local health boards and council social services departments.

Certus TG will supply both technical infrastructure and a disaster recovery platform for the new CCIS system, using state-of-the-art data centres in Newport and Blaenavon.

Michael Dolan, CEO at CareWorks, said: “Delivering and supporting an infrastructure for the 30,000 health and social care professionals across 29 organisations in Wales is complex.

“We chose to work with Certus TG because of they have a team located close to the data centres with the experience and relationships with equipment providers to construct the CareDirector-CCIS infrastructure.

“When we assessed them as a potential partner for the project their existing customers were strong advocates for them. We’re looking forward to working with Certus TG in the years ahead. They are a trusted technology provider in Wales, and offer the expertise and capacity required to deliver CareDirector CCIS.

"The Welsh Government has been working towards the shared planning and delivery of health and social care services for some time now. The CCIS solution will support that goal and we are delighted to be working with Certus TG to help us implement and support this new system.”

The patented CareDirector data management software for health and social care practitioners is well used across a range of care sectors in Ireland, the UK, mainland Europe and USA.

It enables information to be shared between different practitioners, organisations and settings instantly, helping health, social services, mental health, therapy and community services deliver improved outcomes for service users.

Nigel Griffiths, chief operating officer of Certus TG, said: “We are thrilled to be working with CareWorks on this ambitious project and hope that our expertise can help to provide healthcare professionals with up-to-date patient information around the clock.

“This is the large, high-quality, enterprise-class infrastructure that we have delivered to date, which will have an enormous beneficial impact on the lives of patients and professionals alike.

“In terms of the impact on Certus TG, together with other recent wins, this new contract has contributed to a 15 per cent growth in our business, which has enabled us to recruit an additional six staff.

“As a Welsh head-quartered company, it’s good to be able to work on a project that is generating income to the Welsh economy, creating jobs and helping to streamline the healthcare to the benefit of thousands of Welsh patients.”
