Motorpoint’s Newport site has chosen Leonard Cheshire Disability as its’ official charity partner.

The car sales business, which is based on the Queensway Meadow Industrial Estate, has decided to support the work of the Leonard Cheshire Disability Llanhennock Lodge, near Caerleon, as a way of saying thank you for caring for Kirsty Ball, the daughter of one of its’ team members Martin Ball.

Staff at the car supermarket have already been busy hosting a variety of fundraisers including a full body wax for the site’s general manager Russell Louth. They are also hosting a Motorpoint’s Got Talent’ show later this summer.

“We’re hoping to raise £5,000 this year alone for Llanhennock Lodge,” explained Barbara Culley, administration manager and charity co-ordinator at Motorpoint Newport.

“The work they do for physically disabled adults is remarkable and we’re determined to do everything we can to help them over the coming weeks and months.”

Among those backing Motorpoint Newport’s decision to aid Llanhennock Lodge is David Davies, MP for Monmouth.

He said: “I am delighted that Llanhennock Lodge, which is based in my constituency, has become the adopted charity of Motorpoint Newport. This is fantastic news for both the home and the families whose loved ones are residents there. I would like to commend the firm for its charitable endeavour as such involvement in the local community by large companies needs to be encouraged.”

Motorpoint Newport celebrates its 10th anniversary next month. Since opening its doors it has become the only car supermarket to sell a car to every postal code area in Wales.
