South Wales insurance giant Admiral, which has a base in Newport city centre, has donated more than £500 to the Buzzy Bees nursery in Cwmbran, through its Community Chest scheme.

Gareth Edwards, who works in Admiral’s claims department, wanted to give something back to the nursery that his son has been attending for the last couple of years.

Community Chest provided the nursery with an outdoor kitchen, three tricycles, space hoppers, a large climbing frame and slide, plus a few other smaller items.

Gareth knew that because he worked for Admiral he could apply to the Community Chest scheme.

The scheme has been running in Admiral for more than ten years and so far in 2015 has given more than £60,000 to local charities and organisations in South Wales.

Gareth said: “From a very early age my son has had several allergies and health problems and Buzzy Bees have been fantastic in accommodating him. The nursery has really gone that extra mile to ensure his inclusion with all the activities and to help him develop alongside his friends. Both my wife and I feel relaxed knowing he is in such a safe environment and in safe hands.”

Jodie Godfrey, manager of Buzzy Bees, said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Admiral. Our gardens are now fully equipped and the children have benefitted greatly. A big thumbs up from all the staff and children.”

Gareth said: “The equipment looks great and the children are all really happy with it. Sadly my son leaves Buzzy Bees this September, but it is great to know that future generations will benefit from this generous donation from Admiral.”
