Newport-based GD Environmental joined the Welsh Government and five other Welsh businesses from the energy and environment sector in Wales to showcase its services at this year’s RWM Show at the NEC Birmingham.

The three-day event attracted more than 14,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors and is the only event of its kind, asked for by the industry, covering all aspects of the waste hierarchy.

The event is run in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Waste Management and provides a platform for experts to exchange opinions about the topic of waste disposal and to obtain information on new products, services and solutions.

The Welsh Government’s Energy Wales Unit showcased its waste management strategy ‘Towards Zero Waste’, a mission to eliminate landfilling waste in Wales by 2050, which in turn creates significant opportunities for waste recycling and reprocessing companies in Wales.

Co-exhibiting alongside Welsh Government were six pioneering initiatives and projects from companies working across all areas of the sector, including Newport-based waste management company GD Environmental, who has received support from Welsh Government to develop resource efficient initiatives and technologies.

Lindsey Kelly, general manager at GD Environmental Services, said: “Without the support of Welsh Government, the opportunity for an SME like GD Environmental to exhibit at such a prominent event would not be feasible. Not only does the opportunity presented by Welsh Government allow GD to fulfil one of its long-term ambitions, but it also offers the opportunity to positively impact on our company’s sales, enhance our customers experience and improve profitability."
