NURSES working with St David’s Hospice Care in Gwent are resplendent in sparkling new pink uniforms thanks to the generosity of Coventry Building Society and its staff.

The Coventry’s branch in Bank Street, Chepstow, raised £1,870 of which £1,000 has been used by the Gwent charity to pay for the pink nurses’ uniforms embroidered with the charity’s logo.

Staff at the Coventry’s Chepstow branch arranged a number of events to raise cash for their nominated charity, St David’s Hospice Care.

This was supplemented with £1,000 coming directly from the Coventry’s Community Partner Fund.

While customer service specialist Debra Evans went the extra mile adding to the total separately by collecting an impressive £650 by completing the gruelling Severn Bridge Half Marathon 2015.

Debra said: “We have been supporting St David’s Hospice Care since 2009 as part of the Coventry’s Community Partners programme which sees each branch support a local charity or community group through fund raising and volunteering.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have been able to raise money to help the charity to buy these magnificent new uniforms for the nurses to wear at the day hospice and also out in the community.”

Tania Ansell, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “The Chepstow branch of the Coventry are stalwart supporters of our charity. The nurses are absolutely delighted with their new uniforms and I must say that I think they look really fab.”
