Blaenavon-based online training and business solutions consultancy RWA is taking its My Development Zone proposition to the Greek islands later this month having been invited to speak at the third annual Corfu Symposium on Managing and Marketing Places.

Supported by the Institute of Place Management, this event will focus on the way places are enhanced or improved upon and RWA will be discussing how online learning can benefit small businesses and their employees.

Stu Rolls, learning and development manager at RWA, who will be speaking at the symposium, said: “This is a very exciting dynamic to our work and a strong commitment from RWA to be supportive of SME business not only in the UK but also internationally.

"Whenever you consider ‘place’ you must start with the people.

"The Hellenic economy and her people have experienced massive upheaval these past few years and I am proud that we have the ambition and desire to provide our instantly accessible and progressive learning and assessment platform to assist our Greek friends.”

Stu’s presentation will draw upon themes of motivation, mastering skills and creating a common purpose by which businesses benefit the community they exist alongside and not just themselves.

My Development Zone provides progressive and purposeful online personal development in the world of business and soft skills. From customer service to marketing and leadership, the system also awards badges to its users that can ultimately be used to promote oneself and help an employer understand an existing or future employee’s skills set.

RWA CEO Tom Wood leads the team behind this online learning solution.

He said: “It has always been an integral part of our work that wherever we can, we will facilitate low cost and positive development experiences for the benefit of our learners and the organisations they work for. With that in mind, we have built a highly effective route to skills training that, internationally, is seen more and more as a vital ingredient for success that complements academic studies and professional qualifications.”

The four-day event in the island’s capital will be attended by leading thinkers including presentations from Cardiff and Manchester’s metropolitan universities and has real international scope with contributions from Chinese, Italian and Israeli academics; all discussing the importance of effective management for a better and prosperous future.

Stu said: “RWA’s reputation of quality training and consultancy in the disciplines of financial services, HR and business management put it in great stead and the opportunity to share these expertise across borders into Europe and beyond is a Welsh made success story of which we are very proud.”
