Abergavenny-based builders' merchants Robert Price has raised more than £4,000 with its 2016 Charity Challenge.

The ‘Tour de Robert Price’ saw a team of staff walk from Brecon to Merthyr, via Pen-Y-Fan, then cycle to Cardiff Bay – a total distance of more than 50 miles – to raise money for Cancer Research Wales, the leading cancer research charity in Wales, and, Torfaen Mind, the Torfaen & Blaenau Gwent branch of national charity Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.

Donations were received from supply partners, customers, friends and family, meaning the company raised £4,292.62 far exceeding the target of £2,500.

The money will be split between the two charities, with £3088.13 going to Cancer Research Wales and £1204.49 going to Torfaen Mind.

Molly Pike, marketing manager, said “We’re thrilled to have raised this fantastic fund for two highly deserving charities and we’re grateful to everyone who supported us this year.

“The 50-mile route was a challenge for everyone who took part, but seeing so much money going to worthy causes made all the training and the 12-hour ordeal worthwhile.”
