Martin Whitaker, chief executive of Circuit of Wales, will be speaking at the M4 Business Network event on Tuesday, September 13 at the Celtic Manor Resort.

The future of the Circuit of Wales regeneration project is currently the subject of much public, political and media debate and while the majority of these discussions focus on the £375m required to fund the development - the potential increases in investment, jobs, tourism, and the chance to place South Wales at the heart of the UK automotive sector, continue to drive efforts to make the project a reality.

In his presentation to the M4 Business Network’s 170 members and guests Mr Whitaker will explain why the key components of the development, and the potential it offers for the region and its businesses community, make the Circuit of Wales more than a racetrack.

Before joining Circuit of Wales, Mr Whitaker developed and successfully managed the Bahrain International Circuit. He was also head of Ford Europe's Motorsport programme overseeing Formula One, the World Rally Championship and Touring Cars.

Prior to that he worked within Bernie Ecclestone's Formula One management company, in addition to holding a senior position within McLaren.

Paul Byett, chair of the M4 Business Network and managing partner of its main sponsor, UHY Hacker Young, said: “As a keen motorsports fan I’m a great supporter of this project and I’m sure that like me, many attending next week will be eager to hear the latest updates.

“The Circuit of Wales has the potential to transform this region, but as is the case with so many developments of this scale, opinions are easily divided. We are grateful that Martin has agreed to speak at our next event to help us look beyond the soundbites and headlines to discover all that the regeneration project has to offer.”

The M4 Business Network has established itself as the premier networking organisation in south Wales, attracting members from along the M4 corridor.

Current sponsors of the club include the South Wales Argus, Newport City Council, South Wales Chamber of Commerce, QualitySolicitors Rubin Lewis O’Brien and Johnsey Estates.
