Eco Technology Ltd has purchased part of the premises formerly occupied and owned by Excel at Maerdy Industrial Estate, Rhymney, for an undisclosed sum.

Leading property consultancy JLL in Cardiff acted for the seller. The deal, which relates to unit C, will allow Eco Technology Ltd to pursue its growth ambitions.

Eco Technology Ltd has been in operation since 1993, and offers waste management solutions, hazardous waste disposal as well as a number of specialist services.

The unit provides 112,025 sq ft of industrial accommodation within a site of 8.93 acres, providing ample room for the company to grow.

The industrial complex is situated two miles south of the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road, with the M4 located 25 miles to the south of the industrial estate. Unit C benefits from both ground and dock level roller shutter doors, office accommodation, two gantry cranes and dedicated rail access.

Heather Lawrence, senior surveyor at JLL, who acted for the seller, said: “South Wales is currently experiencing a steady level of demand for units over 100,000 sq ft with supply not currently at the level required to meet this. This has led to occupiers looking to more secondary locations such as Maerdy Industrial Estate to find suitable premises.

“Supply of good quality industrial stock is severely limited with a number of enquiries in the market remaining un-satisfied. This clear demand should stimulate speculative development in the industrial sector.”

JLL acted as joint agents with Jenkins Best on the disposal of the property.
