Renowned training and development expert Sylvia Marshall was the guest speaker at the most recent meeting of the City of Newport Business Club at the Celtic Manor.

She gave an enthralling account of her life in business, offering valuable insights into her approach and commentary on how to define success.

After a successful corporate career, Sylvia launched Able Training International Ltd and grew the business to a market leader in its sector within ten years.

She then ‘retired’ and took up golf, but soon decided this wasn’t for her. The refurbishment of the headquarters of her former training company led to the launch of a new venture, renovating and refurbishing property all over the UK.

Not content with this, Sylvia’s latest venture is a company which teaches prospective stock and shares traders how to trade their way from a zero to a million.

Sylvia’s talk was delivered effortlessly and filled with personal anecdotes and advice for anyone active in business today. She then opened up the floor for questions.

Asked what three attributes were most important in business, Sylvia replied, ‘hard work, honesty and integrity’.

Dan Goulding, club chairman, said: “Sylvia has been dubbed one of the most inspirational and hardworking women on the planet and after hearing her speak, I now know why. Her enthusiasm and passion for business is infectious and gave all those who attended plenty to reflect on.”

The next City of Newport Business Club event will be on Thursday, May 4, 2017, when the speaker will be Debra Barber, chief executive of Cardiff Airport.
