A MONMOUTHSHIRE hairdresser who has fitted thousands of wigs for cancer and alopecia patients has moved to bigger premises after a decade in Usk.

Phillip Mungeam, who owns members-only salon The Room and founder of the wig company Peruke, took the decision to relocate his business from Bridge Street in the town centre to the nearby Llancayo Business Park.

Mr Mungeam said the new premises will help him to shape the business as it continues to evolve with an ever-growing client list.

He said: “Our new premises will provide the opportunity for further expansion over the next few years.

“We are extremely excited to move to the Business Park into a two-storied building that offers more space for a salon and separate consultation room and waiting room for wig clients.”

The father-of-two and president of Usk Chamber of Commerce, said: “This stunning location offers our wig clients even more privacy in a peaceful and quiet setting.”

Mr Mungeam and his team have helped thousands of cancer patients in the region to cope with the trauma of losing their hair since founding Peruke in 2005.

Peruke, which has a second shop in Hereford, has been supplying wigs for 11 years but took over as the sole provider of wigs for Gwent cancer suffers in 2010.

“We are planning to expand our unique and caring style in Wales and further into England,” he said.
