Gareth Davies is bringing his considerable business experience to bear in a new marketing venture.
Eminent Promotions offers marketing support to businesses in Wales, helping them with branding, marketing and sales advice.
He is aiming, within three years, to be employing up to seven people in the business, presently based in Brynmawr.
He feels the key to success is building strong, ongoing relationships with clients.
He said: “We will work with them to develop their marketing, rather than offering one-off solutions.”
With more than 30 years’ experience in business and industry, Gareth feels his extensive business experience will be valuable to new, and established, firms in Wales.
He spent 10 years with Dunlop in senior roles, and has also founded various IT companies. As well as this he worked for a packing tape manufacturer for more than 20 years, which he also founded.
He said: “Very often firms, especially start-ups, are strong in their core areas, but lack the wider range of skills. This is often apparent in their sales and marketing which is, of course, essential. We can offer support in this vital area.”
Eminent offers a full branding service, as well as promotional materials.
Gareth said: “We specialise in high quality corporate gifts and promotional products. We have done extensive research and know which products are best in particular industries.”
Products are sourced globally to give the best cost and quality possible and small runs are not problematic.
A £2,000 Kickstart grant was provided to help launch the business, and this was used to buy IT and other equipment. The Kickstart programme is run jointly by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and Tata Steel subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise. BG Effect was also instrumental in providing assistance to get the new business up and running.
Cllr Dai Davies, executive member for regeneration and economic development from BGCBC, said: “Through the council’s Kickstart Grant scheme, in partnership with UK SE, we are continuing to support local businesses whether they are existing or new.
“Over the years a number of businesses have been successfully supported through the scheme that has helped new businesses to be set up in the area or existing businesses to continue to grow.
“I am delighted that Eminent Promotions has utilised the schemes and support available through the council’s regeneration team to launch its business. I wish them every success. Whether you are a new or existing business, please contact our regeneration team and visit the council website for information about the business support available.”
Gail Hannam of UKSE, said: “It is good to see this new business being launched and we are delighted to have been able to help. Gareth’s extensive business experience will no doubt be very valuable to Welsh companies.”
