Certas Energy, one of the UK’s largest independent distributors of fuel and lubricants, has chosen Gwent-headquartered recovery agency the Caldicot Group, as its vehicle recovery partner for Wales and the West Midlands.

The agreement is a massive coup for the ambitious Caldicot Group, which will now provide all vehicle recovery services for Certas Energy’s 173 tankers operating in Wales and the West Midlands.

With an annual delivered volume of six billion litres, Certas Energy is one of the UK’s largest independent fuel distributors employing more than 2,300 people across a nationwide network of more than 140 sites and depots.

Using a fleet of 1,000 tankers, Certas Energy serves the domestic and commercial markets including construction, haulage, aviation, agriculture, marine and the public sector. The company’s Wales and West Midlands operation accounts for more than 15 per cent of its fleet and the Caldicot Group will serve these vehicles from its regional recovery centres in Monmouthshire and Walsall.

Richard King, senior transport manager at Certas Energy, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Caldicot Group as our recovery partner for Wales and the West Midlands.

“Certas Energy is dedicated to supporting and serving the needs of its customers and importantly this ethos is shared by the Caldicot Group. Its team is clearly focused on delivering a personable service to its customers, while operationally its infrastructures and fleet demonstrate the key requirements we expect from a partner. We are looking forward to working with them in 2018.”

Gavin Edwards, managing director of the Caldicot Group, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the company and we are grateful to Certas Energy for the faith they have shown in us as an organisation. Over the last 12 months we have seen significant growth as a business with a succession of new clients wins. This is testament to the fact we have delivered a level of service that fundamentally recognises the needs of individual businesses whether they are an SME or larger commercial operation.”

Certas Energy has also officially launched in South Wales to provide its portfolio of fuel and lubricant management solutions to customers across the region.

Bringing together five depots in Langstone, Cardiff, Cinderford, Hereford, and Three Cocks under the Certas Energy brand, the launch creates a consistent presence in the region driven by strong relationships with local communities.

The roll-out of the Certas Energy brand in South Wales means business as usual for all customers across all sectors, with simply a name change.
