A Caerphilly country hotel has built a new function suite with support from a six-figure finance package from HSBC, enabling it to significantly expand its meetings and event offer.

Bryn Meadows Golf & Hotel Spa, based in Ystrad Mynach, has used the funding from HSBC to construct a permanent event suite overlooking its 18-hole golf course. The new suite is set over 500 square metres with two function rooms and will be able to host more than 300 guests for a variety of events including weddings, parties and conferences.

The extension will also enable the family-run Bryn Meadows to take on an additional 12 new full-time and 20-part time employees from the local area, which will include management roles, event co-ordinators and service staff.

Gary Mayo, owner of Bryn Meadows Golf and Spa Hotel, said: “The new event suite will completely transform the experience we can offer our customers and we’ve been thrilled at the level of support we’ve received from our HSBC relationship manager, Joel Dunning, who has created a tailored finance plan for this expansion. As a result of HSBC’s support we no longer need to hire temporary marquees for seasonal events and can now host hundreds of guests under one roof all year round.”

Alan Thomas, HSBC’s area director for South Wales, said: “With more than 40 years’ experience in the hotel industry, Gary and his family have helped Bryn Meadows go from strength to strength since the business was formed in 1973. The team have created jobs for the local economy and we’re thrilled to have provided the funding to support this.”
