Leading professional advisory and accountancy firm MHA Broomfield Alexander has added to its senior corporate finance ranks with the internal appointment of an associate director.

The firm’s corporate finance manager Katherine Broadhurst graduated in law and German from Cardiff University before joining MHA Broomfield Alexander in 2002 as an executive in the corporate finance team.

Ms Broadhurst completed the AAT and ACA qualifications, becoming corporate finance assistant manager in 2012.

The new associate director role is a strategic addition to the firm’s growing corporate finance team and comes after it was listed as the most active corporate financial advisor in Wales in 2017 for the third consecutive year, according to data specialist, Experian.

Ms Broadhurst’s responsibilities will involve working more closely with directors across their range of portfolios, as well as continuing to manage the corporate finance functions at the Swansea office.

Ms Broadhurst said: “As an associate director, I’m looking forward to continuing to build effective relationships with clients and supporting them with their corporate finance needs, whether it be acquisition, due diligence or business funding. We are in a privileged position to support businesses through some of their most rewarding as well as challenging circumstances, and I relish the opportunity of delivering that support on an even more direct level and taking a leading role in transactions.”

“The corporate finance landscape is always changing, and more recently, we’ve seen new entrants to the funding market so I’m excited to be working with different lenders to help support our clients with practical solutions. Management buy-outs are also on the rise and so assisting in these will likely be a key element of work moving forward.”

Seamus Gates, director and a partner at the firm, said: “Katherine has been a huge support to me and my fellow directors over a number of years on a large number of corporate finance assignments and transactions. Katherine qualified with MHA Broomfield Alexander and has been with us almost 16 years. She has worked really hard to achieve her promotion and deserves her place in our successful and growing corporate finance team.”
