UK recognition for Newport law firm’s digital solution to traditional homebuyer headaches

Harding Evans Solicitors, which has offices in Newport and Cardiff, has been shortlisted for the Law Society’s prestigious Excellence Awards, the highest accolade for law firms in England and Wales.

The firm is a finalist in the Excellence in Technology and Innovation category for its in-house designed conveyancing app.

The app allows clients to track the progress of their case online at any time during the conveyancing process. Clients can also view and save their documents at the touch of a button.

The app is designed to improve communication between all parties involved, allowing estate agents and brokers access to track their own caseload too.

Wyn Williams, partner and head of conveyancing at Harding Evans Solicitors, said: “Typically those buying and selling homes are anxious to know about progress at any point along the way. This app removes the worry by making the process easier, quicker and more transparent. It saves the client the time and expense of checking in directly with their solicitor and it keeps all parties ‘in the loop’ at all times.”

He said that the firm intended to licence the software to others involved in conveyancing and hoped it would become widely used in the market. Harding Evans’ three-strong team of software developers is already working on apps to improve client experiences in other areas of the law including family law and wills and probate.

Winners will be announced at the Law Society’s Excellence Awards ceremony in London on October 17.
