NEWPORT restaurant entrepreneur David Pell has launched a business breakfast club with a difference.

David, the owner of Newport restaurants The Ridgeway Bar & Kitchen, and also Bacaro, is creating bespoke business breakfasts.

David said: “We’ve launched business breakfasts at our Italian style restaurant, Bacaro, at Celtic Springs Business Park, which will combine a meeting place for business people and a healthy and nutritious start to the day.

“Breakfast is widely recognised as being the most important meal of the day. We’re combining that message with a healthy meal tailored to meet individual needs.

“We’ve started the breakfasts this week as the clocks go forward meaning an hour less in the morning and the likelihood that, more than normal, people will need a targeted energy boost in the morning.”

David said Bacaro is seeking the expertise of University of South Wales nutrition expert Teresa Filipponi, to help devise and for Bacaro to deliver the healthy business breakfast options.

University senior lecturer and nutritionist Teresa Filipponi said: "'Don’t skip breakfast' is one of the eight tips for healthy eating recommended by the National Health Service’s Live Well webpage. Furthermore, starting the day with the right food is key to achieving optimal performance, whatever your profession, it gives you time to reflect and plan for the day as well as providing the body with the nutrients necessary to function optimally."

David said: “Depending on the type of work you do, perhaps sat behind a desk looking at a computer or conversely running around the office all morning managing staff, requires different types of food delivering a range of sources and levels of energy.”

Bacaro Breakfast Club, located just off Junction 28 of the M4 at Celtic Springs Business Park, will be an informal grouping allowing people to drop in, arrange to meet and discuss affairs while enjoying a healthy start to the day.

Diners, who can park without cost, right outside the restaurant, will be able to read either real or online newspapers, including Business Argus, using the restaurant’s free wi fi.

Bacaro Business Breakfasts are served from 8am-11am Monday to Friday.

• The first twenty business people to enjoy a Bacaro Business Breakfast, on each morning 8am to 11am between Wednesday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 8, will receive a complimentary coffee and Danish pastry.
