Former Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Tessa Jowell is set to address the influential M4 Business Network event on Tuesday September 9.

Credited as an instrumental figure in the successful London Olympic bid, Dame Jowell is never far from the political and media spotlight.

Recently, she has faced a Tory backlash following her suggestions that political interference was hampering the hunt for the next BBC Trust chairman. By her own admission such controversy has lead Tessa Jowell to develop a thick skin when it comes to ‘the ritual humiliation of politics’.

Yet, when the time comes to address the M4 Business Network at the Celtic Manor next week, it is expected that the Former Minister for Women and Employment will seek to impart views on more commercial subjects, including, women in leadership; project management and delivery, and; managing change.

Paul Byett, chair of the M4 Business Network and managing partner of UHY Hacker Young, its main sponsor, said: “The network is delighted to welcome Tessa Jowell to speak with our members. Last year we were proud to host two of Wales’ finest Paralympians and it is fitting that one of the masterminds behind London’s Olympic bid should join us next.

“We are sure that Tessa will provide an entertaining and insightful address to rival that of our most recent senior political speaker, Ann Widdecombe.”

Having become one of the most established events in the business networking calendar, the M4 Business Network holds four breakfast events each year at the Celtic Manor Resort.

Current sponsors of the club include UHY Hacker Young Chartered Accountants, the South Wales Argus, University of South Wales, Working Word, Barclays Business, Thomas Carroll, The Celtic Manor, Carbon Financial Planning, Newport City Council, McAlister & Co Insolvency Practitioners, South Wales Chamber of Commerce and Harding Evans Solicitors.
