In response to a number of new client wins, Newport-based chartered accountants, UHY Hacker Young, has boosted its team with the appointment of six specialist accountancy professionals.

The appointments signify a 15 per cent increase in headcount at the firm, with the recent additions joining the practice’s 40-strong team at its offices in Newport, Abergavenny and Bristol. The strengthened team will facilitate the expansion of the firm’s highly sought after services for its corporate and private clients.

Katie Williams has become the firm’s latest senior personal tax expert and joins the UHY team alongside accounts senior, Jamie Eddy; audit and assurance professionals, Christian Davies and Bradley Awuah-Peasah, and; experienced payroll administrators, Shelly Desmond and Lee Davies.

Paul Byett, managing partner at UHY Hacker Young, said: “We are delighted to welcome six highly talented professionals to our ever-expanding team. The new additions will enable us to continue to service our existing client base while giving us additional capacity to support new client wins.

“I’m confident that the combined experience and enthusiasm our new newest team members bring is a sure sign for the continuation of our success this year as we move into the fourth quarter.”

Katie Williams brings more than 16 years’ experience, nine of which were developed while working in the international tax field with ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers. As a personal tax senior, Katie will use her knowledge and expertise to manage the tax responsibilities of UHY Hacker Young’s high-net-worth clients.

Katie Williams said: “My primary reason for joining the UHY team was the opportunity to develop with a growing firm. My previous positions have provided a diverse range of experience working with international clients, which I plan to further develop working with the practise’s extensive client base.”

Accounts senior, Jamie Eddy, becomes the latest addition to the practice’s growing business services department. Jamie brings with him over seven years’ experience built working across a varied range of clients, from small enterprises to those with multi-million pound turnovers.

As the latest members of the firm’s ever expanding Audit & Assurance team, Christian Davies and Bradley Awuah-Peasah are currently studying towards their ACCA qualifications. In addition to the mentoring and support they will receive from UHY Hacker Young’s partners, both will benefit from the experience of working across a diverse portfolio which includes corporate, not for profit and charity clients.

The UHY Team will be further bolstered by the appointment of Shelley Desmond and payroll administrator, Lee Davies, who have both joined the practice’s growing payroll department.
