STAFF at Clarks UK Ltd, Newport, the UK’s biggest Maple Syrup supplier, are ditching their hairnets and overalls holding a charity pancake race in aid of Ty Hafan’s Children’s Hospice.
The race will take place at the Clark’s Factory, unit 7 and 8, Estuary Court, on Queensway Meadow Industrial Estate at 3pm. People are invited to join in with pancakes and frying pans provided and prizes to be won.
Several other events are also being held around Gwent to mark Pancake day. In Torfaen, sports stars are preparing to battle it out in the kitchen when they take part in the second Parkway Pancake Challenge in Cwmbran. Representatives from Pontypool RFC, Newport County Football Club, Newport Gwent Dragons and a leisure team will compete at 2pm today.
In Monmouthshire, Chepstow Methodist Church is holding a pancake party from 5.30pm with events including pancake Olympics and lots of games.
