Cwmbran-based call centre We Fight Any Claim is once again an official sponsor to James Chorlton who will rode in his first BMCRC Rookie 1000 race at Brands Hatch on Saturday.

For James, who is the brother of We Fight Any Claim’s managing director, Simon Chorlton, this is a huge achievement, after a serious accident in 2009 kept him side lined for more than nine months, but the progression from motocross to RZR racing and now BMCRC Rookie 1000 is a natural one in James’ mind.

James said: “I just love being on a bike, there’s no feeling like it. You are so focussed on what you’re doing that there isn’t room for any other thoughts – I find it quite relaxing!”

Travelling at speeds between 130 and 200 miles per hour depending on the circuit, might not be everyone’s idea of fun but James insists it’s his, and with a strong support network around him, he is determined to give his all.

He said: “I don’t have a huge team with me at the track, I garage with Peter Baker and we share a mechanic.

“My wife Claire is like my pit crew. She sorts the tyres and fuel out for me and it really helps having her there. I wouldn’t be able to race without the wider support of my family, Claire’s family and, of course, We Fight Any Claim who are sponsoring me and Peter this year.”

Peter Baker, in his 21st racing season has six British Championship titles to his name and is a close friend and mentor to James.

James said: “Peter's brilliant, what he does with a bike is unbelievable. I’m so lucky to have Peter in my corner, he’s so experienced. He helps me focus and gives me great advice, like to forget the bad stuff and just enjoy it!

“I want to be number one. I’m not playing around. Yes, I’m facing some demons from my accident but I’ll work harder and want it more than any of the other riders there.

“I don’t want to finish a race and feel regret, and I don’t think you really know what you’re capable of if you don’t push the limits. Of course, safety is my first concern but I’m fully confident in my bike, having built it myself, and my ability.

“The ultimate goal would be to race British Super Bike as a team, but I’m focussed on this season and finishing top.”

Simon Chorlton, managing director at We Fight Any Claim, said: “We’re very proud of James, and are incredibly happy to be sponsoring him and Peter this season. We wish them both well and look forward to following their progress throughout the year.”
