A Newport-based VAT company has raised £1,000 for homeless charity, The Wallich.

Centurion VAT Specialists, which is based in Langstone, has a long-standing relationship with the charity and regularly organises events to raise invaluable funds to support them.

Its most recent fundraising activity was a charity quiz event which was held at Cardiff Met Student Union and raised £1,113, which will be used by The Wallich to help provide support and accommodation to homeless people across Wales.

The winners of the night were Blake Morgan LLP, with UES Energy finishing in a close second place.

Liz Maher, director at Centurion VAT Specialists Ltd, said: “Being able to bring together our clients and contacts, have great fun and raise some much needed funding for The Wallich seemed a great opportunity.

“Any business likes to ensure it supports their wider community and it is our pleasure to help raise the profile of The Wallich and its fantastic work across Wales.”

Jan Balsdon, head of community partnerships at The Wallich, said: “We are extremely grateful to Centurion VAT for holding a quiz night and fundraising such a substantial amount for the charity. The money raised will help us continue the vital work we do in preventing homelessness in Wales and supporting those who are most vulnerable to re-build their lives.”
