Automotive parts distributor, Fast Parts Wales, which has a branch in Cwmbran, has reached the halfway mark of its £10,958 target for Ty Hafan’s ‘Pay for a Day’ initiative.

The firm is holding the Fast Parts Wales, Ty Hafan, Rainbow Family Rally on May 1 and 2, and all places for this event are now full.

With a budget of £300 to purchase a car, rally participants are then required to paint it in rainbow colours to represent Ty Hafan.

Starting on Sunday, May 1, with the cars leaving Fast Part’s Abercarn branch and then embarking upon an eventful journey across Wales, participants will stop off at designated checkpoints in Carmarthen and take part in ‘fun’ challenges.

Oakwood Theme Park is the Sunday’s final fundraising destination, where Park Director, Phil Verbinnen, has granted rally participants the opportunity to collect donations and show off their cars to visitors leaving the park, which will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of its wooden roller coaster Megafobia.

Participants will then head to Tenby Football Club, which has kindly offered accommodation, before heading towards the hospice in Sully on Monday, May 2, after a brief stop-off at Barry Island.

Nathan Travis, company director at Fast Parts Wales, said: “We’re overwhelmed by the interest shown in this event and have been working tirelessly to ensure everything is in place for an enjoyable two days.

“Ty Hafan is an incredibly worthy cause and we’re extremely grateful to everyone who has already donated or is involved in any way. With the event drawing nearer, we’d like to encourage the community and trade to support us in our efforts to raise money for the essential ‘Pay for a Day’ initiative by donating here: www.justgiving.com/FastPartsTyHafanRainbowRally.”
