A Caerphilly-based creative studio specialising in computer-generated imagery has won a major plaudit for one of its 3D animations.

Bomper Studio, based at the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise on Caerphilly Business Park, was named as the ‘People’s Choice’ for best use of 3D at the Creativepool 2016 Awards.

As a reward for their efforts, Bomper Studio has been profiled in a ‘portfolio’ of the best CGI producers in the world.

The golden-covered annual was handed to every delegate visiting the Cannes Lions Festival 2016 last month.

More than 15,000 delegates from around 100 countries attended the eight-day festival – which attracts the top global advertisers and creative agencies

The studio’s short animation of a Coca-Cola bottle with 1950s icon Marilyn Monroe came top in a poll of 12,000 fellow professionals and members of the public in the Creativepool network.

Emlyn Davies, founder of Bomper Studio, said: “We're ecstatic at this recognition. Inspired by Coca Cola's 'I've Kissed Marilyn' ads, we used the project as an exercise in blending expressive character design and vintage iconography with hyper-real lighting and materials.”

Emlyn said: “As a young two-year-old start-up studio we’ve grown an envious portfolio of clients and brands. The annual is also being sent out this month and it should give us massive exposure to global advertising agencies.”

The latest award for Bomper comes on the back of it winning the Innovation in Business category at last year’s Caerphilly Business Forum Awards.
