Welsh ICE, the business innovation centre, has invested in a state of the art AVID edit suite at its Caerphilly campus.

ICE is currently home to ten film and video production companies, as well as a wealth of artists, illustrators, graphic designers 3D animators and CGI experts, so already has a great pool of pre and post production specialists at the centre.

To answer ever increasing demand Welsh ICE, in collaboration with Truth Department Films, has created a 300 sq ft, broadcast quality AVID suite. It will be available to rent for members and non-members of ICE and experts from Truth Department Films will be on hand to help.

Jamie McGowan, community manager at Welsh ICE, said: “We already have so many film and video production companies at ICE that it seemed like the obvious next step to create this state of the art AVID suite. As well as allowing our members to use it, we hope that it will attract more of the south Wales creative community to ICE to see what we have to offer.

“Since Welsh ICE opened, just over four years ago, we have attracted many creative companies and have supported them to grow and flourish. With the addition of this new facility we can only see this increasing.”

The AVID suite is available to rent for £100 a day and £450 a week. It is available seven days a week and 24 hours a day. To celebrate its opening Welsh ICE is offering buy one week at the facility and get another one free during July and August. Rental costs for the AVID suite have been kept purposely low to allow this broadcast quality suite to be accessible and affordable to burgeoning talent who are just starting out in film and video production.

Welsh ICE recently announced the £1million purchase of the nearby Octagon building and is also opening its new co-working area, the Courtyard Space, to accommodate the growing numbers of ICE members and will house an extra 25 desks for new businesses. The Octagon will be available for new tenants from September.

Jamie said: “This is a really exciting time at Welsh ICE with new buildings, new offices and new facilities opening. It is hoped that we will be able to offer more recording facilities in the near future too, so further help us establish our own creative hub just outside Cardiff.”

Welsh ICE offers bursaries to eligible early-stage entrepreneurs keen to get their business off the ground, which takes away the burden of having funds to pay for office space as well as offering the support and mentoring they need on their office doorstep.
