Screwfix will create 14 jobs when it officially opens its first store in Monmouth on September 15 at the Mayhill Industrial Estate.

Monmouth store manager, Phill Dolton said. “We’ve created 14 new vacancies and have employed local people from around the Monmouth area. Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service. Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening.”

Hutchings & Thomas Chartered Surveyors, based in Newport, identified the property for the new store.

Fiona Weaver, of Hutchings & Thomas, said: “Screwfix gave precise details for the location and criteria of the property it required for the new premises in Monmouth and we’re delighted to have been able to fit its specific requirements with the property at Mayhill Industrial Estate.”

Tradesmen and DIYers are all invited to attend the Monmouth Screwfix opening on Mayhill Industrial Estate where they can also demonstrate their professional skills in a free-to-enter screw drilling competition. The fastest time wins a 40in smart TV.

Phill believes that the store’s convenient location and the ability to provide a Click and Collect service within just five minutes of ordering will be a real bonus to local tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts.

He said: “I’m confident we’ve got a great location here in Monmouth. My team and I have already been out and about getting to know local businesses and tradesmen and we’ve all been struck by how friendly everyone has been.”
