A substantial red brick Victorian former adult learning centre in a prominent position close to the centre of the city of Newport is up for sale at auction.

The freehold building, on Charles Street, near Stow Hill, is set over three floors and is being sold by Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions next month with a guide price of £230,000.

Kristy Sawmy, of Paul Fosh Auctions, said: “This is a really large building near the heart of the city centre, not far from Friars Walk shopping centre with Debenhams, Next, restaurants and coffee shops.

“The sizeable red brick building has until recently been used as an adult learning centre which offered a range of courses including cake decorating, dressmaking, food safety, GCSE courses and general education. The property now offers scope for a number of different uses and potential redevelopment, subject to planning.”

The ground floor has a reception area and offices with a number of rooms to the rear including an IT suite and toilets. The lower ground floor has access from Charles Street and leads to offices with access to the first and second floors. A spiral staircase leads from the first to second floor.

The building has an extensive main hall and along with some original fixtures and fittings it also includes a large feature stained glass window.

The sale, when this property along with 99 others will be on offer, is on Thursday, February 2, at The Park Inn Hotel, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, starting at 5pm.
