KNOCK out south Wales jobs firm Clear Sky Recruitment have given current WBO European Lightweight Champion Gwent’s Craig Evans a boost.

Blackwood-founded Clear Sky Recruitment, which has its headquarters in Cardiff, is now official sponsor of the Caerphilly county based fighter,

Blackwood-based Southpaw and former ABA Featherweight Champion Craig, who fights under major boxing promoter Frank Warren, has his eyes firmly set on a world title shot.

Ross Porter, managing director and founder of Clear Sky Recruitment, said: “Craig is a talented boxer with the skills and determination to become world champion. We’re delighted to support him on his journey. Coming from a family with a strong boxing tradition myself, I am pleased that we are in a position to help Craig at what is an exciting time in his career.”

Craig said: “I am delighted to have a successful business like Clear Sky Recruitment in my corner as I push on with my boxing career. Ross and the team are great people and I am very grateful for their support.”

The ABA featherweight champion had been tipped for a potential Olympics place in 2012, but instead opted to turn professional and to join the paid ranks with promoter Frank Warren.

The fighter’s father, Darren Evans, said that was something of a family tradition, his father Selwyn having chosen to turn professional in 1947 when he had the chance to aim at the 1948 Games.

Talks are under way regarding a defence of Craig's WBO European Lightweight title towards the end of May with his promoter, Frank Warren, aiming to confirm his opponent in the near future.
