The former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone is set to be the guest speaker at the next M4 Business Network event on Tuesday, September 12, at the Celtic Manor Resort.

Livingstone is best known for his time as the first-elected Mayor of London from 2000 to 2008, which saw the implementation of the Oyster travel card and the congestion charge.

As a politician, Livingstone has campaigned for the equal rights of women, the LGBT sector and ethnic minorities.

The business network has also announced celebrated Welsh TV presenter and ultra-marathon runner Lowri Morgan as the guest-speaker for its event on November 14.

Born in Gower, Lowri Morgan has become a well-known name in the television industry, covering the World Rally Championship for S4C and hosting ITV’s popular documentary programme, Helimeds.

One of only 80 people to have ever visited the Titanic ship wreck, Lowri is known for the level investment she places in projects. This includes her taking part in the Amazon Marathon, as well as the 6633 Arctic Marathon for a documentary, which consequently won the Best Documentary Series title at the 2012 BAFTA Cymru Awards.

Each event will provide members and guests of the M4 Business Network the opportunity to hear first-hand stories from two highly influential people in their respective fields, giving an insight into the passion that has led to their success.

The September meeting will also see the M4 Business Network welcome its newest sponsor, Gravel Auctioneers Ltd.

Established in 2012 by Gerald and Thomas Cole, both RICS chartered surveyors and RICS registered valuers of machinery and business assets, the company’s year on year growth has seen it expand operations from its headquarters in South Wales to open additional offices in London and Halifax.

Recently, a £325,000 investment has allowed the Gavel to expand into new premises at Cwmtillery Industrial Estate to create a 30,000 sq ft auction centre.

Paul Byett, chairman of the M4 Business Network and managing partner of its main sponsor, UHY Hacker Young, said: “It is a pleasure to announce that the network will return from its summer recess, to provide our members with the opportunity to hear from two impressive individuals. I look forward to reconnecting with our membership and welcoming Gravel Auctioneers and those who are joining our prestigious network for the first time."
