Admiral has once again stepped up as main sponsor of the City of Newport Half Marathon, which is organised by St David's Hospice Care.

The Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 4, 2018, and the hospice is hoping to attract a record 3,000 entrants for this, the sixth staging of the event.

To celebrate the partnership, a team of employees from Admiral visited the hospice facility at Newport and saw for themselves how local patients benefit from their support.

Event organiser Christine Vorres, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “We can’t thank Admiral enough for agreeing to sponsor the City of Newport Half Marathon again. We were delighted to welcome colleagues from Admiral to the hospice here in Newport, and to demonstrate clearly how vital their support is to the local community.”

Katie Davies, of Admiral, said: “I now understand how many people in the local community are supported by St David’s Hospice Care. I’m proud that Admiral sponsor this event and wear my half marathon t-shirt to the gym on a weekly basis to show it.”

Admiral employees are encouraged to take part in the event, and 101 staff members finished the 13 mile route around Newport this year.

The scenic course takes runners along the Riverfront path, past iconic bridges and on up to Newport Castle before heading out to Caerleon and back.

David Stevens, Admiral Group CEO, said: “Admiral is delighted to support the 2018 half marathon. This is the fifth year we have supported the event. It’s fantastic for the city of Newport and the participants who take part but it also helps raise much needed funds for St David’s Hospice Care - a very worthy cause.”
