A BLACKWOOD magician will reveal whether he cast a spell on his date during tonight’s edition of dating show ‘Take Me Out’.
Jason Tatton, 32, who managed to bag himself a date in last week’s show, was nominated by his work colleague who told him just days before that he had an audition for the hit TV programme.
The father-of-two went through an interview process and spent a whole day at a Cardiff audition where he was put through mock ‘Take Me Out’ scenarios.
Mr Tatton, who works in the Caerphilly borough to help those threatened with homelessness, has also worked as a magician for the past eight years, performing at parties, weddings and charity events.
He impressed judges with his magic at the audition and was then asked to go to London to learn more tricks to perform on the show.
He said: “Doing the interview they find out different bits and bobs about you and so they knew I had a keen interest in skydiving. They paid for me to do a skydive in Swansea, which they filmed for my video on the show.”
Speaking about filming, he said: “Meeting Paddy was brilliant; he is a really funny guy.”
The show was recorded on November 21 to a live audience where Mr Tatton met the girls for the first time.
The video played on the show featured his master interview, an interview with his children and the skydive feature, but the magic tricks were kept quiet until the talent round.
“The last stage was doing the magic and I did a dove production, where I made white gloves into doves, and Paddy passed me a cane which I turned into a bird, before splitting the last bird into two birds,” he said.
His performance was a hit, and two girls were left with their lights on, leaving it up to Mr Tatton to decide whether to take up Paddy’s offer of a ‘mystery date’– a new twist in the show.
He said: “I chose Lisa-Marie as she kept her light on all the way through and she is Welsh. She’s a pretty girl.”
The pair then went on a date to the Isle of Fernando which will be shown tonight at 8.50pm on ITV.
He said: “It was an amazing experience. I didn’t go on the show looking for love. I went on for the experience and the chance to do magic on TV.”
