A CROSSKEYS teen crowned Teen Beauty of Newport 2014 is hoping to secure another title in a national pageant this autumn.

Fourteen-year-old Elle Wilks, a Year 10 pupil at Cwmcarn High School, was crowned Teen Beauty Of Newport 2014 last month after entering the pageant online. Now she will try her luck at the Teen Beauty UK pageant in Lancashire on October 19 to compete against dozens of teens from across the country.

As part of the pageant, Elle will raise funds for the pageant’s official charity Rays Of Sunshine, which aims to make wishes come true for children with serious and life-limiting conditions aged between three and 18. Elle is also fundraising for All Creatures Great and Small.

Elle will be organising several charity events for the Rays of Sunshine charity, including a family fun day at Waunfwr Park, Crosskeys on August 15. Kicking off at 1pm, the day will feature a range of activities including face painting, live music and dance events.

“I am also looking forward to being involved in the charity work, as I have always wanted to give and help out as much as I can for charities,” Elle added.

Her mum Penny Wilks, 41, is very proud of her daughter’s achievements.

“She is a bit nervous, but is really excited.”

Should Elle win, she will receive a crown, trophy and sash along with a range of prizes.
