POLICE have named a motorist who died in a crash on a road described as a “death trap”.
More than 1,000 people have signed a petition to make Wyllie Bends safer following the death of 38-year-old Paul Thomas on Friday.
His silver Volkswagon Bora collided with a red Vauxhall Astra on the B4251 in Caerphilly county shortly after 5.30pm.
Over the weekend, 2,140 people showed their support by liking the Safety on Wyllie Bends Facebook page, and 1,033 signed a petition calling for traffic-calming and speed-control measures.
Thoughts were extended on social media, where people posted messages of condolences paying tribute to the Cwmfelinfach man.
A message from Tara Williams on a petition website read: “This road has taken so many lives and is a death trap. A good friend of mine was taken on 10/10/14 and it's too late for him, don't let it be too late for the next victim. RIP Paul.”
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are investigating the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 353 10/10/14.
