TWO shops gutted by a town centre blaze will be demolished today.
High Street in Newbridge is still closed after the fire which started in the St David's Hospice Care shop.
A spokeswoman for Caerphilly council said that a structural review into the extent of the damage found it was "necessary to demolish both properties".
She added the council hoped that the work will be finished by Monday 16th February and that the High Street will be able to reopen shortly after.
In the meantime, although a diversion route remains in place, pedestrian can still enter the town other businesses are open as usual.
