A CAERPHILLY teenager has appeared in court today charged with robbing a supermarket in the early hours of Monday morning.
Adam Mackie, aged 19, of Pen y Cae in the Mornington Meadows area of the town, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
He spoke only to confirm his name and to give his date of birth and address. No plea was entered.
Mackie is charged with the robbery of money from an Iceland store on Caerphilly’s Cardiff Road on Monday morning, March 30, when two staff members were opening up.
Mackie will appear at Newport Crown Court on Friday, May 1. He was remanded in custody.
The store was closed all day on Monday as police carried out forensic examinations.
* A 15-year-old boy remains in police custody after being arrested in connection with the incident.
