CREWS tackled a blaze at a Caerphilly pub for three hours last night as they searched for people in the building.
South Wales Fire and Rescue said half of the Irish Tymes Pub, in Station Terrace, Caerphilly, was left “severely damaged” by the first-floor blaze.
Three crews from Caerphilly and Whitchurch were sent to the fire after receiving a 999 call at just after 11.30pm last night.
Within four minutes crews were on the scene and were searching for people in the building.
By 12.20am, crews confirmed all people were accounted for and safe and two extra fire engines were sent to the scene from Pontypridd and Central.
At 1.46am, crews revealed half of the building was severely damaged but by 2.24am the fire was under control.
The fire scene was continued to be inspected throughout the night. Fire investigation will attend this morning.

UPDATE 7.49am: Gwent Police say they were called to the pub at 12.20am last night.
A spokesperson said the fire does not appear to be suspicious but a scene guard has been kept around the pub overnight ahead of a fire investigation this morning.
The spokesperson added: "From initial investigations it looks like it's not suspicious".
