A MAN has been taken to hospital after a car hit a lamp post in the Caerphilly area today.
Gwent Police were called to the crash site at 11.26am on the main road in Maesycwmmer.
Welsh Ambulance Service sent two rapid response cars and an emergency ambulance to the scene and a 65-year-old man was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital.
As emergency services attended the scene, the A472 Caerphilly was temporarily closed in both directions.
The closure affected drivers in the Ystrad Mynach area between the A469 (Ystrad Mynach) and B4252 (Thomas Street Maesycwmmer).
At around 2.36pm the road was re-opened.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman confirmed that "at this time, we are unsure how serious (the man's) condition is".
