A TEENAGE rock band is hoping to follow in the footsteps of their heroes after recording with one of their genre’s top producers.

Four-piece outfit Revival, from Blackwood, recently returned from a studio session with Grammy-nominated producer Chris Tsangarides, a sound engineer best known for his work with Heavy Metal’s biggest icons.

The band, who regularly perform at the Patriots Motorcycle Club in Crumlin, follow in the wake of Tsangarides’s previous artists with range from Judas Priest, and Anvil to Thin Lizzy and Black Sabbath.

After living in the studio for weeks in Dover, the end result is the full EP  ‘Seasons of the Wizard’ which will be released next year.

As the Argus previously reported, the young band quickly made a name for themselves since forming in 2014 and attracted the interest of renowned Mark Wallis.

This producer, who recorded classic cuts for The Smiths and U2, is also interested in mentoring the band's future career.

Band manager Adrian Brockelsby, aged 53, helped fund Revival's recording sessions and believes working with Tsangarides will help them get their "big break".

Crediting their “maturity” and “hunger for success” the manager – who previously mentored artists included an 2015 MOBO award nominee — said the band are “going from strength to strength”

He said: “They’re writing their own music now and Chris Tsangarides is interested in having them back in the studio next year to do an album. He said these guys have got some superb talent.

“The guys also raised half of the studio costs themselves through selling merchandise. I think they’re at the stage now where they can play any festival and wipe the floor with others.”

Music coordinator at the Patriots Motorcycle Club, Roger ‘Brummie’ Lees, who regularly books the band, also added his congratulations to the rising rock stars.

He said: “They were in awe when they went down (to record) and it really has been full steam ahead with Revival."

The Blackwood band have an average age of 17 and play a mixture of cover songs and originals.

Their current line up is Dafydd Fuller (drums), Finley Nash (vocals/rhythm guitar), Luke A Williams (lead guitar), and Alex Payne (bass).

On Sunday, January 1, 2017 they will also release an EP entitled ‘Madness’ which will available to stream and download online.
