GWENT and other areas of Wales has been given warning of high winds and potential for flooding at the weekend as Storm Brian and a so-called 'weather bomb' comes from the Atlantic.
A weather bomb is an area of low pressure which deepens rapidly by 24mb in 24 hours. This rapid lowering of air pressure leads to volatile, stormy weather.
The yellow warning for Saturday comes as a spell of strong southwesterly winds is expected.
The Met Office says that some coastal routes and communities are likely to be affected by large waves, with potential for flooding of properties.
Some transport disruption is likely, and short term loss of power and other services is also possible.
