PARALYMPIC gold medallist Mark Colbourne spoke about his experiences at London 2012 during a visit to defence manufacturer General Dynamics in Oakdale recently.

The Tredegar cyclist accepted a £400 donation on behalf of Disability Sports Wales, from the company’s golf society.

President of General Dynamics UK, Dr Sandy Wilson said: “We appreciate Mark visiting us to meet our employees. Mark first visited the site in June and told us his moving story and his hopes for London 2012.

“His story is inspirational, and shows what you can achieve through dedication and hard work.”

After breaking his back in a paragliding accident in May 2009, Mark raced to silver in the C1-C3 Kilo cycling time trial in the 2012 Paralympics, followed by his first Paralympic gold medal and GB’s first gold in London in the C1 three kilometre pursuit.

Mr Colbourne said: “Donations such as this will support Disability Sports Wales to develop the next generation of athletes.”
