THIS weekend the annual meeting of the Tommy Cooper Society will also feature a display of paintings including one signed by Sir Anthony Hopkins.
The patron of the Tommy Cooper Society, Sir Anthony Hopkins, has donated a painting of his idol, Tommy Cooper, to raise funds for the Society. He has signed it on the back with a message of thanks for the warm reception he had in Caerphilly when he came to unveil Tommy's statue last year.
The portrait, along with several others of the Caerphilly born comedian, will be on public display at the Twyn Community Centre at 6.30pm on Saturday July 4. They will be auctioned at an event to be arranged later in the year.
There will also be a demonstration of the Tommy Cooper Society's new website by society member Chris Bleach J.P. in co-operation with corporate communications company, Quadrant, whose chief executive, Bill Jenkins, is the society's president.
This will be the society's sixth annual meeting and the Honorary Secretary, Jonathan Jones, will be presenting their plans for supporting Caerphilly Workmen's Hall. Everyone, whether members or not, will be very welcome to attend.
