Rappers want to help raise money for charity

MEGADAY headliners Goldie Lookin Chain say they decided to add their wait to the charity event when they knew it would raise money for Velindre Hospital.

Band member DJ P.Xain aka Rhys from the legendary Welsh rappers said: "At the time we heard about the event one of our friends was in St Anne's Hospice so we are more than happy to raise money for Velindre."

The group has helped to raise money for Shelter Cymru, a charity set up to help homeless people. Later in the year GLC will be releasing a single which will be interactive. The song called Everybody's a DJ is a song which people can remix themselves.

Megaday organisers hope to reach the £200,000 milestone in the 15th year of the event. Megaday will again be taking place at Virginia Park in Caerphilly on Saturday August 29 and Sunday August 30.

This year Goldie Lookin Chain South Wales's very own rap band, who are best known for their songs 'Guns Don't Kill People rapper do' and 'You knows I love you', will be headlining on the Saturday night.

To get hold of Megaday tickets simply go to The Moathouse Pub - Lon y Llyn, The Courthouse Pub - Cardiff Road, The Pontygwindy Pub - Pontygwindy Road and Premier Stores - Nantgarw Road. For information go to www.megaday.net .

This year the Battle of the Bands competition which normally takes place at Megaday has been running on Nation Radio (formerly X FM). In the last month or so bands have been asked to submit their tracks to Nation Radio. Nation are selecting the top ten and then the listeners have voted for their favourite band, who will then be played on the station as well as getting a slot on the stage on the Saturday.

For information on the bands simply visit. The winner will be announced on the station this Friday and there is still time to vote for your favourite by going to www.nationwales.com.
